Virginia Beach Mayor Expected To Announce Status Of Arena Deal

Virginia Beach Mayor Will Sessoms today is expected to announce "whether arena developer Comcast-Spectacor has met his deadline for striking a deal on a new building" with the NBA Kings as anchor tenants. The original deadline for the announcement was yesterday. Virginia's legislative session begins tomorrow (SACRAMENTO BEE, 1/8). City officials have said that they "want a deal in place between Comcast and the team before seeking state funding for the project" (Norfolk VIRGINIAN-PILOT, 1/8).
