PGA Tour Season Tees Off Today With Tournament Of Champions

The PGA Tour season opens today in Hawaii with the Hyundai Tournament of Champions at Plantation Course at Kapalua, "teeing off a 2013 season that will morph into the new FedEx Cup schedule that begins in October." The story lines for this year "appear to be much the same" as '12: How dominant can Rory McIlroy be? Can Tiger Woods stage a comeback at the age of 37? Will the new generation of McIlroy and other recent major champions continue to grab the spotlight? (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 1/4).

Meanwhile, comedian Norm Macdonald has joined Grantland.com as a golf analyst, and published his first column, a preview of the ’13 season, yesterday. Macdonald “plays it pretty straight, although he gets in a pretty colorful description of Dustin Johnson’s 2010 season when Johnson blew chances to win the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship” (GOLF.com, 1/3).
