Louisville-Florida Matchup Marks Lowest Sugar Bowl Crowd Since '39

The Allstate Sugar Bowl drew 54,178 fans to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome for Louisville’s 33-23 win over Florida last night, marking the “lowest Sugar Bowl crowd since 1939” (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 1/3). The BIRMINGHAM NEWS’ Jon Solomon also noted it was smallest crowd ever for a BCS game (TWITTER.com, 1/3). Compared to the Michigan-Virginia Tech matchup last year, the Sugar Bowl attendance this year was down 16% from 64,512 (THE DAILY).
