Rutgers AD Tim Pernetti Claims Big Ten Move Provides Stability

Rutgers AD Tim Pernetti this morning talked about the school’s pending move from the Big East to the Big Ten and said the new conference “brings a tremendous amount of resources to the table that you just don't realize in any other conference in college sports right now.” Pernetti: “It's an unstable time. Schools are leaving conferences all over the place. But for us, what we have at Rutgers, the assets we have, the New York market, all those things gave us the ability to be positioned for stability forever.”

CNBC’s Joe Kernen said, “I don't think anybody in the tri-state area cares about watching Wisconsin, but if they’re playing Rutgers they’re going to watch the game now.” Pernetti said the conference will use Penn State as a “bridge into the east,” as the N.Y. market “has been unclaimed in college sports” (“Squawk Box,” CNBC, 11/26).
