U.S. Soccer Set To Announce New Women's Professional League

U.S. Soccer Federation President Sunil Gulati today will announce a new outdoor women's pro league that will begin play in '13 and have eight teams. There reportedly will be teams based in Chicago, DC, Boston, K.C., Portland, Seattle, New Jersey and upstate N.Y. The Major Indoor Soccer League Missouri Comets ownership group of Greg Likens, Brad Likens and Brian Budzinksi "will be the owner" of the new K.C. team. Gulati will be joined at the announcement by Canadian Soccer Association and Federation of Mexican Football reps (K.C. STAR, 11/21).
