U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association Launching YouTube Channel

The U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association today will launch its own channel on YouTube called the USSA Network. The national governing body will offer live event coverage from 10 competitions and a weekly highlight and lifestyle show called "Snow Globe." It joins USA Wrestling, USA Gymnastics and other NGBs in striking a formal agreement with YouTube for its own channel. The deal allows USSA to protect 10 sponsorship categories.

YouTube's sales team will sell ads on USSA Network and split revenue evenly with USSA. YouTube will not cover any of USSA's production costs, which are estimated to be in the low six figures. Powder, Snowboarder, Ski and other endemic magazines have agreed to embed a USSA Network YouTube player on their websites, which USSA hopes will drive traffic to the channel.
