Big East Presidents Could Approve Two-Division Football Format

The Big East presidents today are expected to approve a two-division format for the '13 and '14 football seasons. The divisions are "not likely to be named geographically but instead could be called Red and Blue." Officials also are expected to discuss "how the league's schedule – five games against division opponents and three crossover games – might look" in '13 and '14. Sources said that the divisions would be divided according to the chart below, but those lineups "could be tweaked to appease the Big East's future TV partners and increase the worth of the media rights deal" (ESPN.com, 11/12).

WESTERN DIVISION EASTERN DIVISION
Boise State Central Florida
Houston Cincinnati
Memphis UConn
