EPL club Chelsea has signed a two-year deal with Myanmar-based Int'l Beverage Trading Co. and its Grand Royal Whisky brand to become the team's official whisky. The deal marks "the first time an advertising deal has been agreed between Myanmar and a western brand." Chelsea will visit the country in a preseason tour as part of the deal (MARKETINGMAGAZINE.co.uk, 10/11).
Ohio State and Texas last night announced that they will play a home-and-home football series in '22 and '23. Ohio State AD Gene Smith, who announced a home-and-home series against TCU last week, said that the school "will beef up its nonconference schedules in the future" (ESPN.com, 10/10).
SNTV, the joint venture between IMG Media and the AP, today announced it will open a new bureau in Rio de Janeiro. The Rio bureau will be the fourth permanent location SNTV has outside London. Its other offices are in N.Y. Beijing and Singapore (AP).
