Digital Marketing Firm Phizzle Enters Sports Space With JMU Deal

S.F.-based Phizzle Inc. has signed a deal with James Madison Univ. to supply mobile marketing and digital advertising products and services to the school's athletic department, representing the first collegiate deal for the company. Phizzle signed the deal through Front Row Marketing Services, which holds JMU's multimedia rights. The pact is for the current football season with a likely extension into men's basketball this winter.

Since Front Row is aligned with the entire Colonial Athletic Association, Phizzle is aiming to use the JMU deal as an entry point into more collegiate work. "This segment of the space is a landgrab right now, so we're looking to demonstrate our model and build up very quickly in college," said Phizzle CEO Ben Davis.
