Cox Media Group Invests In Kentucky-Based Digital TV Platform iHigh

Cox Media Group has made an $11.7M investment in iHigh, the digital TV platform and online network for youth teams and other groups who want to broadcast their events. iHigh said the investment will be used to charge the company’s product development and expansion. The company, started by Jim Host and based in Lexington, Ky., provides web-based tools for live video streaming to personal computers, smart phones, tablets or any other Internet-connected device. It was founded to help high schools broadcast their sporting events, but Host said that small colleges, governing bodies like USA Swimming and the NJCAA, and other non-sports small groups also are customers.

Use of iHigh is free, and the site said more than 8,000 organizations have used the tools to broadcast live events. “We believe this is the best platform for any devoted affinity group to share a live event,” said Host, iHigh’s Chair & CEO. “Having Cox Media Group as a partner and investor will help bring iHigh to more communities.” Atlanta-based Cox Media Group operates 15 TV stations, 86 radio stations and several digital products.
