Tiger Woods' Return To Pebble Beach Boosts Ticket Sales

Ticket sales for the PGA Tour AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am are up 30-35%, according to officials, with Tiger Woods returning to the event "after 10 years away" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 2/9). Since Woods last played in the tourney, the field has been trimmed from 180 to 156. Most groups "are now finishing an hour earlier" than under the old format. Woods explained why he has been absent from the event: "It's been scheduling. It just hasn't fit. This time it fits perfectly" (Salinas CALIFORNIAN, 2/9).
