NFL Won't Confirm Reports That Chiefs, Rams Will Play In Mexico City Next Season

The NFL claims a decision regarding which teams will play each other in Mexico City next season "had not yet been made" despite reports the Rams would host the Chiefs in Estadio Azteca, according to Terez Paylor of the K.C. STAR. A Televiso Deportes report had the two teams playing in Mexico City "in October or November." The NFL "typically releases its schedule in April, though it could announce the participants in this year's International Series game this month." The Chiefs are slated to play the Rams "on the road in 2018" (K.C. STAR, 1/6). In L.A., Gary Klein reported the NFL "requires teams playing in temporary facilities to play one 'home' game as a part of the league's International Series." The Rams have two more years at the L.A. Coliseum "before moving into a new Inglewood Stadium" (LATIMES.com, 1/4). Meanwhile, ESPN.com's John Sutcliffe cited sources as saying that the Raiders will play a home game in the U.K. in '18 and "could return to Mexican territory by 2019." The Rams are "potential candidates to receive a game in China in the 2019 campaign" (ESPN.com.mx, 1/3).
