Univ. Of Louisville Refunds Men's Basketball Season-Ticket Holders After Pitino, Jurich Fired

The Univ. of Louisville recently "returned $419,166" to men's basketball season-ticket holders who "sought refunds following the firings" of former coach Rick Pitino and AD Tom Jurich, according to Tim Sullivan of the Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL. UL has generated $116M "more in men's basketball revenues than any other school during the last decade." UL SID Kenny Klein said that the athletic department "returned $239,566 in ticket revenue and $179,600 in additional donations required to purchase some tickets in premium locations to 126 individuals or businesses who controlled a total of 315 seats" at the KFC Yum! Center. Klein said that 78 of the season tickets returned for refunds "have been re-sold, which will bring in $70,187 in ticket revenue and $101,600 in donations this year." Other tickets are being "re-sold on an individual game basis" (COURIER-JOURNAL.com, 11/17).
