USOC Sponsor United Airlines Unveils Roster Of Athlete Endorsers For PyeongChang

USOC sponsor United Airlines has unveiled its roster of athlete endorsers for the PyeongChang Games, which will "represent the so-called New Spirit of United and underscore the airline's commitment to the Olympics," according to Lewis Lazare of the CHICAGO BUSINESS JOURNAL. United's lineup of athletes includes figure skater Nathan Chen, freeskier Gus Kenworthy, snowboarder Jamie Anderson, short track speedskater J.R. Celski, luger Erin Hamlin and paralympic sled hockey player Nikko Landeros. The athletes will "appear in marketing materials for United and represent United throughout" the Games. One athlete who is "sadly missing" from the lineup for PyeongChang is figure skater Gracie Gold, who "withdrew from several pre-Olympic figure skating competitions in recent weeks to seek treatment for depression and an eating disorder." For the '14 Sochi Games, Gold was "front and center among the athletes with whom United worked." United and its ad agency, McGarryBowen, N.Y., have "begun work on a new television commercial that will debut in January in advance" of PyeongChang (BIZJOURNALS.com, 11/7).
