Franchise Notes

In Jacksonville, Ryan O'Halloran noted the Jaguars "distributed 60,720 tickets" for their game against the Bengals on Sunday, an increase of 8% (4,488) from their loss to the Rams in Week 6. The Jaguars’ 5-3 record is their "best after eight games" since '07, and the win over the Bengals was their first at EverBank Field this season. The Jaguars host the Chargers on Sunday and play three consecutive home games next month. More wins will "likely equal more ticket sales" (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 11/6).

SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT: Canucks Chair Francesco Aquilini said that his family is "open to purchasing additional sports properties, including a rugby team." But SPORTSNET.ca reported the family "won't be buying" the CFL BC Lions from Owner David Braley. Appearing on Vancouver-based CISL-AM, Aquilini said if he was "presented with the right opportunity, Vancouver could see the return of the NBA should the stars align." He "mentioned that Rogers Arena is still in possession of NBA locker rooms and would have no trouble being converted to a basketball arena" (SPORTSNET.ca, 11/7).

LET'S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS: In Massachusetts, Bill Ballou reported sports economist Andrew Zimbalist and former Massachusetts Secretary of Transportation Jeffrey Mullan have been hired by Worcester City Manager Edward Augustus Jr. as "consultants for the city’s discussions" with the Triple-A Int'l League Pawtucket Red Sox. Those talks center on the team’s possible relocation and "construction of a new ballpark in the Canal District" (Worcester TELEGRAM & GAZETTE, 11/7).

TAKE IT DOWN: ESPN.com's Greg Wyshynski noted the NHL Panthers have "removed Kevin Spacey from their arena." During the team's '15-16 run to the playoffs, the Panthers "awarded each victory's MVP with a blue 'Spacey In Space' hoodie." The hoodie was "retired after that season, but it was prominently featured in a glass display case within the team's 'Den Of Honor' at BB&T Center." The actor has been the subject of an ongoing sexual abuse scandal (ESPN.com, 11/7).
