MLB Network Highlighting Key October Moments In Postseason Campaign

MLB Network once again this October is promoting its coverage of the playoffs with the #WeKnowPostseason social media campaign in an effort to spark debate over notable moments and give fans a chance to connect to its analysts on a more personal level. The campaign, which is now in its third year, features many of the net’s on-air talent recalling their own playoff experiences and pinpointing significant moments in postseason history fans may have forgotten. The net features 18 former players with postseason experience, including 12 who have won the World Series. The campaign this year through original video content on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram already has drawn more than 1.2 million views, a record for the net. The campaign began in ’15 strictly as a social media effort, but positive fan reaction led to the videos being shown on MLB Network studio programming. MLB Network Marketing Manager Tim Shanahan said one of the more popular spots this year examines Carlton Fisk’s home run in Game 6 of the ’75 World Series. “Everyone remembers the home run,” Shanahan noted, “but people forget how wild that game was leading up that.” Shanahan worked closely on the campaign with MLBN Senior VP/Marketing & Promotions Mary Beck, Writer & Producer Kirk Willoughby and editorial assistant Danielle Andreotta. Shanahan said that he envisions the campaign continuing into next year, adding he would like to incorporate fans having the opportunity to speak on their favorite own postseason memories.
