Univ. Of Wisconsin Close To Signing Five-Year Deal For Pepsi Distribution At Athletic Events

Pepsi beverages will be for sale at Univ. of Wisconsin athletics events starting in the '18-19 school year if the UW Board of Regents "signs off on a five-year contract later this week," according to Todd Milewski of the WISCONSIN STATE JOURNAL. UW would get $700,000 in "rights fees over the length of the deal, which is up for approval at Regents meetings in Menomonie on Thursday and Friday." The proposed contract also includes $250,000 in "sponsorship money for UW as well as cases of water and equipment to dispense Pepsi's products at Badgers events." UW's agreement with Dr Pepper Snapple Group "ends June 30, 2018, and the Pepsi deal would start July 1." Dr Pepper Snapple Group paid UW $1M over a five-year contract that went into effect in '13. That deal also "included at least $40,000 in annual sponsorship purchases" (WISCONSIN STATE JOURNAL, 10/3).
