Facilities

Facility Notes

In Toronto, Kevin McGran wrote Little Caesars Arena "seems spectacular." Red Wings LW Henrik Zetterberg said the new facility is "pretty awesome." Zetterberg: "We had a wish list of what we wanted in, and we didn’t get one ‘No.’ Everything you could dream of, we have here. It’s pretty cool to come in here every day and get ready for practices and games." McGran noted the lower bowl is "reminiscent of the Bell Centre," as it is "vast and steep, a true home-ice advantage with the fans feeling like they’re crowding in on the players." The main concourse for fans is "wide and bright" (TORONTO STAR, 10/1).

PERFECT HARMONY
: In Utah, Brad Rock notes the Jazz yesterday held their first exhibition game at Vivint Smart Home Arena since the building's upgrade, and it is an "impressive place." The arena is as "sparkling as a model home, complete with surround sound." Rock: "But will that be enough to pack 'em in? ... It will take a playoff team to keep the ticket holders coming" (DESERET NEWS, 10/3).

HEADS-UP PLAY: In Miami, Clark Spencer notes outgoing Marlins Owner Jeffrey Loria is "taking one of his prized belongings, his collection of 900 bobbleheads, and giving them" to the Baseball HOF. The remaining 300 to 400 bobbleheads that "weren’t part of his private collection will continue to be displayed at Marlins Park" (MIAMI HERALD, 10/3). In Ft. Lauderdale, Tim Healey notes Loria’s collection -- which includes bobbleheads of HOFers Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Satchel Paige, Ken Griffey Jr. and those given away by the Marlins in recent years -- had been "on display on the concourse at Marlins Park" since '12 (South Florida SUN-SENTINEL, 10/3).
