Big 12 Commissioner BOB BOWLSBY "will continue" in the role through June '25 under a contract extension announced Friday. The deal will take the 65-year-old Bowlsby through the "end of the Big 12's next round of television negotiations." The conference's contracts with ESPN and Fox run through '25, with "critical talks on extension likely to begin a couple of years sooner" (DALLASNEWS.com, 9/22). Conference realignment talks are "expected to gain steam" perhaps as early as '23, in between the Big Ten ('23) and Pac-12’s ('24) grant of rights expiration dates (NORMANTRANSCRIPT.com, 9/22).

EXECS: Sports Media Advisors promoted VP DAN SHEVCHIK to Senior VP & Partner. Shevchik was the firm's first hire back in '09 and has played a key role. In his new position, Shevchik will continue to report to SMA Founder DOUG PERLMAN and will take on expanded operational responsibilities (THE DAILY)....The Rockets named SACHIN GUPTA Special Advisor. Gupta originally joined the Rockets in ’06 as GM DARYL MOREY’s first hire (Rockets)....Finish Line Exec VP & Divisional President of Omnichannel Strategy IMRAN JOOMA “will resign Oct. 14 to pursue other business opportunities.” Jooma joined Finish Line in February ’15. Meanwhile, Finish Line appointed Staples Chief Technology Officer FAISAL MASUD to its BOD (IBJ.com, 9/22)....The Hornets promoted Greensboro Swarm Dir of Basketball Operations CAM TWISS to GM for the NBA G League club and Quantitative Analyst & Systems Developer DAVID KAPLAN to Manager of Basketball Analytics (Hornets).
