In celebration of ROBERTO CLEMENTE Day, the Pirates yesterday "took part in five service projects in the Pittsburgh area as part of a league-wide day honoring" the late Baseball HOFer. Pirates President FRANK COONELLY and other team members "helped throw a barbecue lunch," while 2B JOSH HARRISON and several other players and coaches "shopped for winter clothes with children" at a Dick's Sporting Goods (PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 9/7).

HONORING A LEGEND
EMMA STONE -- who plays BILLIE JEAN KING in the upcoming film “BATTLE OF THE SEXES” -- will be at the U.S. Open women’s final on Saturday to "honor" the Tennis HOFer. The USTA will "celebrate the 50th anniversary of King’s 1967 triple crown win with a pre-match ceremony" where Stone, singer/songwriter SARA BAREILLES (who contributed the original song “IF I DARE” to the film) and USTA President KATRINA ADAMS will "pay tribute to King" (N.Y.
