The Warriors to date have "not paid a cent" for their '17 NBA Championship festivities in Oakland, which added up to almost $816,000, as the team has "questions on how the parade bill tripled in cost from an early estimate and wants to sort out the bill with the city," according to a front-page piece by Matthias Gafni of the EAST BAY TIMES. The day after the parade, Warriors VP/Communications Raymond Ridder said that the team "planned to shell out" $4M to cover the entire tab. Ridder said that the "bulk of those costs ... was for a production company, the large television screens, chairs, stages, buses and other elements of the celebration not involving government agencies." City officials also are "asking the team to pick up $244,000 in costs" from the '15 parade, but Warriors co-Owner Joe Lacob made "no public promise for that celebration." The city sent a $1M bill to the team on July 19, with a due date of Aug. 18, but "no money has changed hands." City of Oakland Communications Dir Karen Boyd said, "We are in ongoing conversation. ... The Warriors have given us no reason to doubt they will honor their commitments" (EAST BAY TIMES, 9/7).
