Police yesterday "raided the home of Brazilian Olympic Committee President CARLOS NUZMAN, questioning him over his role in what French and Brazilian authorities say was a vote-buying scheme to land" the '16 Rio Games. Police "took suitcases, documents and a computer, and they displayed detention warrants to question Nuzman" (AP, 9/6).

IT'S HIS DAYPETE FRATES, the inspiration behind the Ice Bucket Challenge, "received a hometown-style outpouring of affection" yesterday as the city of Boston "celebrated Frates for raising awareness" about ALS around the world. Boston Mayor MARTY WALSH at City Hall declared it Pete Frates Day. Walsh was joined by Frates and his family, Red Sox President & CEO SAM KENNEDY, Chair TOM WERNER, MLB Commissioner ROB MANFRED, the Boston College baseball team and several Boston city councilors (BOSTON GLOBE, 9/6).

: Among those selected to be part of this year's Univ. of Michigan Hall of Honor class are ESPN NFL analyst CHARLES WOODSON and NHL Network analyst MARTY TURCO (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 9/6)....The Rose Bowl HOF Class of '17 also will include Woodson, as well as ESPN college football analyst MACK BROWN (AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, 9/6).

NAMES: Home-juicing company Juicero -- which counted KOBE BRYANT and former U.S. skier and NFLer JEREMY BLOOM as investors -- said that it is "shutting down operations -- joining the hordes of other Silicon Valley start-ups that could not deliver business results to match the hype." Juicero raised some $120M and heavily promoted its $700 Wi-Fi-enabled juicer (N.Y. TIMES, 9/2)....Gold Medal-winning U.S. runner CARL LEWIS will be honored by USA Track & Field with the Legend Award as part of the Black Tie & Sneakers Gala on Nov. 2 at The Armory Track & Field Center in N.Y.
