Sources: WFAN-AM Host Carton Arrested By FBI For Investment Fraud-Related Charges

FBI agents and police "arrested" WFAN-AM radio host Craig Carton early today on "investment fraud-related charges," according to sources cited by Graham Grautski of the N.Y. POST. (9/6). N.Y.-based WPIX-Ind. reporter Anthony DiLorenzo tweeted the arrest "comes after feds allege he defrauded customers in a fake tickets scam that netted" $2M (TWITTER.com, 9/5). Carton's "Boomer & Carton" co-host, Boomer Esiason, this morning hosted the show "with update anchor Jerry Recco" (NYPOST.com, 9/6). Esiason this morning acknowledged the arrest and said WFAN officials were “cooperating with authorities.” Esiason: “I’m taken aback and surprised by it just like I’m sure everybody else is. I have no other information, there’s nothing else I can say” (“Boomer & Carton,” WFAN-AM, 9/6).

MUM'S THE WORD: SPORTSRADIOPD.com noted Seattle-based KJR-AM morning radio host Mitch Levy was arrested by Bellevue, Wash., police in a "prostitution sting." Levy was "booked into jail" on Aug. 26 before "posting $500 bail." He has since been "charged with misdemeanor patronizing a prostitute." KJR officials "haven’t yet issued a statement on Levy’s arrest or the station’s plans short-term and long-term for the morning show" (SPORTSRADIOPD.com, 9/2).

TAKING RESPONSIBILITY: ESPN’s Ryen Russillo yesterday addressed his arrest in Wyoming last month and subsequent on-air suspension, taking the first few minutes of his ESPN Radio show to apologize. He said, “I went out that night, drank too much and I went to the wrong hotel room. That's how I ended up getting in trouble.” He added, “I understand that this is a big mistake because I'm a public figure and I have my name on a show and I work at a place like ESPN, a place I'm proud to come into work every single day. I’m not saying this because my bosses are listening, but I deserved the suspension. I embarrassed you guys, I embarrassed myself” (“The Ryen Russillo Show,” ESPN Radio, 9/5).
