Warriors Logo Featured On Durant's KD 10 Sneakers, First Time For Nike Signature Shoe

Nike on Friday released a new colorway for Warriors F Kevin Durant's KD 10 shoe, which includes the "first-ever Nike basketball signature shoe with a team logo," according to Daniel Mano of the San Jose MERCURY NEWS. Durant "picked the tongue of the shoe for an ever-present Warriors logo." The KD 10 Numbers are a "tribute to the 'Strength In Numbers' mantra made famous by the Warriors" (MERCURYNEWS.com, 9/1). THE ATHLETIC's Marcus Thompson wrote it is a "good time for an ol' fashioned shoe war" between Nike/Durant and Under Armour/Stephen Curry. However, the "question is whether Under Armour feels like lacing 'em up." Thompson: "If they do -- what does that mean for the Warriors' remarkable team chemistry?" It has been "clear for some time that Nike is performing a coup here." They are "bent on taking over the Bay Area -- hijacking Curry's real estate from close range." Advice to Curry and Under Armour is to "fight back." Perhaps there is "some hesitation to battle Nike at a game they've been masters at for a long time." UA "probably wouldn't beat Nike at it," but "they'd get respect for trying." Thompson: "We'd pay close attention to a war. Curry firing back would turn this thing into something to watch" (THEATHLETIC.com, 9/3).
