CBS yesterday afternoon drew a 2.5 overnight rating for the final round of the PGA Tour Northern Trust, which saw Dustin Johnson defeat Jordan Spieth in a playoff in the first event of the FedExCup Playoffs. The rating is the best for the final round of the event since ’13 (3.7), when Adam Scott won and Tiger Woods finished tied for second place. Yesterday’s rating is up 32% from last year’s final round, which drew a 1.9 for Patrick Reed’s win. The finale for CBS, airing its last golf event of the season, was the fourth-best, non-major rating of the year, behind only the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (Spieth winner), the Travelers Championship (Spieth winner) and The Players Championship on NBC.
TOUCH ‘EM ALL: ABC yesterday drew a 2.1 overnight rating for Japan’s win over Texas in the Little League World Series Championship, up 24% from a 1.7 for the '16 game. On Saturday, ABC drew a 2.0 overnight for the U.S. championship, which saw Texas beat North Carolina. That number is up 11% from a 1.8 last year. Meanwhile, Saturday’s Japan-Mexico international title game drew a 1.7 overnight, up 31% from a 1.3 last year. Overall, the 1.9 average for ABC’s three games is up 19% from a 1.6 in '16.
