League Notes

GOLF.com's Josh Berhow reported the PGA Tour will "allow spectators to take photos and video of on-course action during tournament rounds" beginning with this week's Northern Trust. Fans previously were "permitted photo opportunities under the Tour's previous mobile device policy, but only during practice rounds." A PGA Tour spokesperson said that the softening of the mobile-device policy is a "step to make the Tour more fan-friendly" (GOLF.com, 8/24).

CAN'T BE STOPPED: In DC, Tim Bontemps notes the NBA is "virtually powerless to stop the most common form of tampering -- player-to-player conversations -- and it's difficult to prove anything." One league exec said, "My sense is everyone agrees that the current situation is silly. The rules are archaic and both difficult to enforce, and largely enforced even when they aren't as difficult to enforce." One GM said, "If a team GM were to blatantly get involved (in tampering), the downside could be enough to prevent them from working again. While I'm sure that may not stop everyone, it sure will be thought about, especially with all the risk and the likelihood of something coming out at some point" (WASHINGTON POST, 8/25).

POTENTIAL BIG CATCH: EPL club Manchester United F Zlatan Ibrahimovic said that he is "eyeing a move" to MLS when he leaves the club. Ibrahimovic said, "There is a big chance of me going to the MLS. But like I said, I'm not done yet" (ESPNFC.com, 8/24).
