Buyers & Sellers: Bills, Sabres Execs Make Big Impact On Buffalo Housing Market

Four of the "largest single-family real estate deals in the last 30 days were generated by Bills and Sabres executives, as the city's two major sports teams continue to drive some of the region's biggest home sales." The four transactions in mid-July account for nearly $3.7M in value. Bills GM BRANDON BEANE paid $1.15M, Bills Assistant GM JOSEPH SCHOEN paid $870,000 and Bills VP/Player Personnel BRIAN GAINE paid $655,000 for homes in Orchard Park. Meanwhile, former Sabres head coach DAN BYLSMA sold his home in Buffalo for $999,999 (BUFFALONEWS.com, 7/29).

BUYER'S MARKET: Chargers TE ANTONIO GATES purchased a home Encino, Calif., for $6.995M. The 8,500-square-foot contemporary-style home has "six bedrooms and eight bathrooms in all." It also includes a "basketball half-court and a four-car garage" (LATIMES.com, 8/1)....Lions QB MATTHEW STAFFORD purchased a home in Atlanta for $3.85M. The 9,838-square-foot home was built in '15 and was most recently listed for $3.89M. The home has "eight bedrooms, eight full-bathrooms, three half-bathrooms and features a guest house, a pool, a jacuzzi, a cabana, a theater, a recreation area and space for a wine cellar" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 7/27)

DEADLINE DEALS: Dodgers LF ANDRE ETHIER has sold his mansion in Gilbert, Ariz., for $4.9M. The 9,326-square-foot home includes a "windmill, batting cage, soccer field, game room and a two story closet." The house has "six bedrooms and six bathrooms" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 8/1)....Giants 1B BRANDON BELT has placed his Alamo, Calif., home on the market for $3.65M. Belt purchased the home for $3.45M in January. Set on one acre, the two-story home with a "wraparound porch was renovated last year and combines Craftsman and farmhouse elements." The 4,800-square-foot house includes "five bedrooms and four bathrooms" (LATIMES.com, 8/1)....Dodgers manager DAVE ROBERTS purchased a home in La Cañada Flintridge, Calif., for $2.75M. The 3,600-square-foot ranch-style house has "four bedrooms and four bathrooms." Built in '46, the "remodeled single-story features such Tudor details as half-timbered trim, leaded glass windows and prominent gables" (LATIMES.com, 8/3).
