Facility Notes

In L.A., Nathan Fenno reported MSG Co., which owns The Forum, sued Inglewood on Friday, "accusing the city of violating California's Public Records Act in connection with a deal for the Clippers to explore building an arena near the landmark sports and concert venue." In the lawsuit filed in L.A. County Superior Court, MSG said that the city "produced just five documents" in "response to wide-ranging public records requests to the city and two related agencies." All of the documents were "dated after the June 15 announcement of the city's three-year exclusive negotiating agreement with the Clippers" (L.A. TIMES, 7/29).

GETTING WITH THE TIMES: In Buffalo, Vic Carucci wrote the pressure to build a new Bills stadium is "already there, mostly from the league." New Era Field is "woefully outdated and substandard when compared with the state-of-the-art facilities popping up throughout the NFL." Construction of a new downtown stadium is "inevitable, but the timing is anyone's guess." Bills co-Owners Terry and Kim Pegula will "contribute significantly, but there will have to be other forms of private money," likely from PSLs and public money. The NFL "would provide a loan, but only after a certain amount of public money is generated for building costs" (BUFFALO NEWS, 7/28).

BLUE JAY UPGRADE: In Omaha, Jon Nyatawa reported Creighton "plans to add suites, coaches' offices and additional lounge space on Morrison Stadium's second level, a project that's set to begin" after the '17 soccer season. The renovations "will be completed by the time" the '18 season begins. The project's total cost "remained undisclosed," but Creighton is "asking for $400,000 more in private donations from CU boosters, alumni and fans" (OMAHA WORLD-HERALD, 7/28).
