Prospective Hurricanes Owner CHUCK GREENBERG dropped by the Raleigh Ice Center on Monday for a "look at the 'Canes practice facility." Greenberg went "more or less unnoticed as he toured the facility." He said that he did "not wish to discuss the trip or any planned meetings while in Raleigh." Greenberg also said that he could "not comment on the size or makeup of the potential ownership group, although it is believed to include local Canes investors" (Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 7/25).

Pickens is still recovering after a series of strokes he suffered last Christmas 
GET WELL SOON: Oklahoma State Univ. booster T. BOONE PICKENS is "not expected to attend" the football team's home opener against Tulsa on Aug. 31. Pickens suffered a "series of strokes" last Christmas and had a recent “Texas-sized fall” that required hospitalization. An OSU source said that Pickens' mind is "still crisp," but his "speech has been affected." Pickens, whose name is attached to the stadium, has "become such an OSU icon ... that it's hard to remember OSU life" without him (OKLAHOMAN, 7/26).

DINNER FOR TWO: PRESIDENT TRUMP said he was with Patriots Owner ROBERT KRAFT the "other night." Trump: "He came to have dinner with me. He’s a friend of mine. And as he left, he said, Donald, don’t worry about the rich people. Tax the rich people. You got to take care of the people in the country. It was a very interesting statement. I feel the same way" (WSJ.com, 7/25).

SAY WHAT YOU WANT: In N.Y., Curtis Rush profiles PGA Tour RBC Canadian Open Tournament Dir BRENT MCLAUGHLIN, a "tattooed, leather-clad, Harley Davidson-driving, guitar-picking former roadie." McLaughlin also runs the LPGA CP Women's Open in Ottawa, and is "one of the most colorful tournament directors." In '93, he "toured Canada by bus as a roadie for the BARENAKED LADIES." One of McLaughlin’s "bold ideas, which pays homage to Canada’s hockey culture, is part of his effort to turn the Canadian Open into a party." A devoted Flyers fan, McLaughlin has "given the par-3 seventh hole at Glen Abbey" this week a "hockey theme complete with boards" (N.Y. TIMES, 7/26).

THE PATH OF KHAN: Jacksonville Mayor LENNY CURRY and his top administration official "quietly hopped on" Jaguars Owner SHAHID KHAN’s private jet Monday morning and left for a two-day trip to K.C., St. Louis and Baltimore to "take care of official and political work." They were "joined by at least one other passenger" -- Jaguars President MARK LAMPING -- as they "met with people in both cities to discuss downtown development ideas and for Curry to handle political business" (FLORIDA TIMES-UNION, 7/25).

NAMES: Former Performance Sports Group Chair GRAEME ROUSTAN has "succeed at pushing pharmaceutical company Aeterna Zentaris to explore a sale." Roustan left PSG after an "unsuccessful attempt to buy the struggling company’s assets." He is also "trying to bring a second NHL team to the Toronto area" (NYPOST.com, 7/25)....Proskauer attorney FRANK SAVIANO, a '15 SBJ/SBD "Forty Under 40" honoree, has been named to Leaders in Sports' "Leaders Under 40" for '17 (Leaders)....As part of its Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee programming, Minnesota-based Land O'Lakes will pit teams of current and former NFLers and Land O'Lakes farmers against one another in a series of on-farm experiences and challenges.
