Overnight Ratings: NASCAR's Brickyard 400 Benefits From NBC Move, Delay Into Primetime

NBC yesterday drew a 3.3 overnight rating for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race from Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which was moved to NBC this year and had a nearly two-hour delay at the start due to weather. The Brickyard 400 had its best figure since ESPN drew a 3.4 overnight for the race in ’13. NBCSN last year drew a 2.8 overnight for the race in its normal afternoon slot.

SILVER ANNIVERSARY: Fox on Saturday night drew a 1.4 overnight for its 25th UFC telecast on the broadcast net, which was highlighted by Chris Weidman’s win over Kevin Gastelum. That figure is down sharply from a 1.8 overnight for UFC on Fox 20 in the same slot last year, which featured the first female-headlined bout on the net. The T.J. Dillashaw-Renan Barao card from July ’15 also drew a 1.9 overnight.

The chart below lists overnight ratings from weekend sports telecasts on broadcast TV.
