Pocono Raceway President Brandon Igdalsky Joins NASCAR's Event Marketing Department

NASCAR named Pocono Raceway President & CEO BRANDON IGDALSKY Managing Dir of Event Marketing & Promotion. He will report to Exec VP & Chief Racing Development Officer STEVE O'DONNELL and will lead the NASCAR Track Council. The governing body also promoted Managing Dir of Brand Integration EVAN PARKER to Managing Dir of Content Strategy; Managing Dir of Social Media SCOTT WARFIELD to Managing Dir of Digital & Social Content and Managing Dir of Event Services JEFF WOHLSCHLAEGER to Managing Dir of Series Marketing. Parker, Warfield and Wohlschlaeger will report to Senior VP & CMO JILL GREGORY. Meanwhile, Pocono Raceway after Igdalsky's resignation promoted his brother NICK IGDALSKY to CEO. He had been serving as Senior VP & COO. He becomes the third CEO in Pocono Raceway history. The track also promoted CMO BEN MAY to President (THE DAILY).

IGDALSKY'S LEGACY: In Pennsylvania, Scott Walsh writes the news of Brandon Igdalsky's move was a "bombshell." Under his direction, Pocono "went through a number of changes, additions and improvements." Igdalsky "reduced the distance of the track’s two NASCAR Cup Series races" and added lower-tier NASCAR events. He "brought the IndyCar Series back to Pocono after a 23-year absence" in '13, the same year the "racing surface was repaved." He also made the track a "leader in renewable energy with the creation of the first Solar Farm at a motor sports facility." Igdalsky said of his new role, "It’s all of the fun stuff without the responsibility of being a track president." Nick Igdalsky said, "I figured I’d have another 10 or 20 years before Brandon moved on." Still, Nick "expects the transition to be seamless" (Scranton TIMES-TRIBUNE, 7/19). Brandon Igdalsky will be based out of NASCAR's Daytona Beach offices (NBCSPORTS.com, 7/18).
