Cowboys Rookie Taco Charlton Signs Endorsement Deal With Texas-Based Taco Bueno

Texas-based fast food chain Taco Bueno announced a deal with Cowboys DE Taco Charlton that "brings to mind" the Dallas Morning News' headline the "morning after the Cowboys drafted Charlton -- 'Taco Bueno!' running across the SportsDay print edition while leading off the web headline as well," according to the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Charlton also has "signed an endorsement deal with Big Red soda." Part of that deal "includes a Big Red sweepstakes for Charlton-autographed memorabilia and a chance to meet the rookie at North Texas grocery stores later this year." Charlton said, "I love my name and I actually do love tacos" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 6/28). Taco Bueno CEO Mike Roper said that the company will have Charlton "come up with some new offers for customers." Roper said that the 6'6", 275-pound Charlton might be a "natural to promote the company's 'Wholotta Box,' which features a combination of 12 tacos and burritos for $15." He also said that the company "might build a 'Tailgate Box' product for fans to buy on game day" (ESPN.com, 6/27). In San Antonio, Greg Anglin noted about "half of Taco Bueno's 180 locations" are in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Charlton's agent Joel Segal said that he and his team "met with several contenders" on a restaurant endorsement deal (MYSANANTONIO.com, 6/27).
