Cowboys DE Taco Charlton Signs First Endorsement Deal With Soda Brand Big Red

Texas-based soda brand Big Red has signed Cowboys first-round draft pick DE Taco Charlton as a brand ambassador for the '17 season. Images of Big Red and Charlton will appear on point-of-sale displays at hundreds of stores in Texas. As part of the promotion, Big Red will host a sweepstakes offering fans the chance to win memorabilia autographed by Charlton. The soda brand also will host meet-and-greet sessions with Charlton at select North Texas grocery stores later this year (Big Red). PRO FOOTBALL TALK's Charean Williams wrote Charlton "seemed like a perfect fit with the Cowboys, what with a name like taco in a Tex-Mex crazy area." Williams: "So who would have guessed the defensive end’s first endorsement deal would come from a soda company?" When Charlton arrived in Arlington, he "received offers of free tacos for life and one local pizza place even named a taco pizza after Charlton." Charlton, whose Twitter handle is @TheSupremeTaco, "went on a taco tasting tour around the area soon after arriving" (PROFOOTBALLTALK.com, 6/26). In Ft. Worth, Drew Davison notes Charlton has "hinted that he is in talks to sign with a taco company but has yet to do so" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 6/27).
