Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Leaves Excel Sports Management, Signs With CAA

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has signed with CAA Sports for all off-the-field endeavors, including film, television, endorsements, speaking, business development, digital marketing and philanthropy. A team of agents across CAA will represent Rodgers. He was formerly represented by Excel Sports Management for endorsements and other off-the-field work. Rodgers is represented on-the-field by Athletes First (Liz Mullen, Staff Writer). PRO FOOTBALL TALK's Mike Florio noted making the Rodgers move "far more intriguing is the fact that CAA has become one of the largest and most successful agencies for on-field work, particularly when it comes to quarterbacks." While Rodgers continues to be represented by Athletes First's David Dunn for contract work, it is "hard not to wonder whether the folks at CAA will be looking for ways to leverage the marketing relationship with Rodgers into a piece of his next big contract." Rodgers "praised Dunn earlier this month on the issue of Rodgers’ four-year-old deal, which tied him to the Packers for three more seasons." Rodgers has had a "decent amount of off-field visibility during his career, fueled largely by his relationship with the State Farm insurance company." However, he "hasn’t parlayed his football success into the same profile that others have enjoyed," like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady (PROFOOTBALLTALK.com, 6/25).
