Edmonton Promises Affordable Ticket Pricing For '18 Grey Cup; Hypes Fan Experience

Edmonton is hosting the '18 Grey Cup, and the city "intends to give" the game "back to the real football fans from coast to coast," according to Terry Jones of the EDMONTON SUN. There will be "no Toronto 2016 rip-off pricing where the cheapest seats were [all figures C] $169-199 and went as high as $899." Instead, affordable tickets will be "combined with an excellent experience for fans from throughout Canada and the community during Grey Cup week." CFL Eskimos President & CEO Len Rhodes, who also serves as the '18 Grey Cup co-Chair, said, "It’s going to be about making it the best event possible." Rhodes: "We want to make sure we do things right. [Eskimos] season seat holders will be able to buy their Grey Cup tickets starting at $99 to $299." Jones notes the CFL also brought back Edmonton's '10 Grey Cup Festival Exec Dir Duane Vienneau, who has been Head of the Tour of Alberta race "for the past several years." Vienneau will begin with Grey Cup 2018 on June 15 and "be replaced" at the Tour of Alberta by Managing Dir Scott Fisher. Vienneau will also "continue with the Tour as a liaison through the running of the event in early September" (EDMONTON SUN, 6/6).
