Sports Business Awards: CAA Sports Wins Best In Talent Representation

Winning the Sports Business Award for Best in Talent Representation was the perfect way to cap CAA Sports’ 10-year anniversary. Taking the honor over the likes of Excel Sports Management and Octagon, CAA co-Head Howie Nuchow said it was not one thing that put his firm over the top in ’16. “It was a really tough category, so I don’t think it was any one thing,” Nuchow said. “It was an accumulation of the hundreds of people in our department doing great work, whether it be contracts on the field or unique business partnerships.” CAA in ’16 helped launch PowerForward, a video-based leadership development program for Duke men’s basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski. CAA also oversaw the deal for Tim Tebow to join the Mets, leading to increases in attendance and sales for their minor league farm system, as well as increased interest in Spring Training in Port St. Lucie. Recently, CAA signed on as the agency of record for F1 and repped Tony Romo in his deal with CBS. Nuchow said CAA’s mindset of never getting comfortable fuels its success in the business. “We work with a group of people that do not settle,” Nuchow said. “We talk about complacency all the time and we want to continue to raise the bar of what success looks like for ourselves. If we continue to do that, good things will happen.”
