Sports Business Awards: Gametime Wins Best In Mobile Fan Experience

Gametime won Best in Mobile Fan Experience, using mobile technology to essentially create and build a new segment of ticketing. Roughly half of Gametime’s ticket sales on its platform occur on the day of an event, and the majority of its buyers are aged 35 or younger. Both of those elements have attracted a wide array of top-tier business partners and investors, and sharply accelerated the company’s marketplace ascent. A $20M Series B funding round last fall attracted the likes of Wasserman Media Group Chair & CEO Casey Wasserman and Accel Partners. “This is a significant milestone for us. This is really our first big industry milestone and recognition,” Gametime Founder & CEO Brad Griffith said of last night’s award win. “But we’re really trying to help solve a problem in the industry. We’re all competing with 700 TV channels, $1 beers, and a comfortable couch and trying to figure out how to get more people into live entertainment.”
