Movie Madness: Mandalay Sports Media To Co-Create "Sporror" Movies Starring Pro Athletes

Mandalay Sports Media has partnered with London-based content studio Gunpowder & Sky to create movies in what they are calling the “sporror” genre -- a combination of sports and horror that will feature sports stars in on-air roles. The first movie to be produced is called “Lucky Number” about a pro basketball player who sold his soul to the devil. MSM’s Mike Tollin and Jon Weinbach will executive produce alongside Gundpowder & Sky CEO & co-Founder Van Toffler; they are meeting with potential directors. They hired Aaron Cooley to write the script. “Digital audiences are devouring horror films and sports entertainment so it only seemed natural to create content that caters to both passions, at the same time,” said Toffler, who previously worked with Tollin on “Varsity Blues.”
