MLB Network Highlighting Top Players During "Faces Of Baseball Week"

MLB Network this week will conduct a “Faces Of Baseball Week,” another effort to spotlight top players who will also be featured on game telecasts on the network. Following up on last month’s “Young Stars Week," the “Faces Of Baseball Week” will profile star players, including their on-field skills and off-field lives, during studio programming as a supplement to the game broadcasts. The initiative will begin today with Cubs 3B Kris Bryant, then move throughout the week to Angels CF Mike Trout (who was profiled in a Sunday N.Y. Times sports section cover story), Marlins RF Giancarlo Stanton, Red Sox RF Mookie Betts and Mariners 2B Robinson Cano. The move extends an ongoing effort by the league to showcase its top players, particularly its young talent. Cano is the only player part of “Faces Of Baseball Week” older than 27.
