Noted Financial Analyst Scaramucci Advising Bush-Jeter Group On Potential Marlins Bid

Anthony Scaramucci, an "outspoken New York financier who served on President Trump’s transition team, is advising" the Jeb Bush-Derek Jeter group hoping to buy the Marlins, according to a source cited by Davidoff & Kosman of the N.Y. POST. Bush and Jeter are hoping that Scaramucci will "help them raise" enough cash to complete the purchase of the club. A source said that Scaramucci, who recently sold his hedge fund Skybridge Capital, has "no plans to invest in a Marlins deal himself." The Bush-Jeter duo has "expressed confidence privately that it will be able to secure the necessary financing." But a source said that the two men were "exasperated by reports [last] week that they had reached an agreement in principle to buy the team" for $1.3B -- "reports they say are inaccurate." A source said that Bush and Jeter, who "don’t have an exclusive deal to buy the Marlins, believe the baseball team has been spreading misinformation including the terms of the bid." The source added that Bush and Jeter "may decide, after conducting due diligence that has only just begun, that they do not even want to buy the money-losing team" (N.Y. POST, 4/29). In Boston, Nick Cafardo cited a source as saying that there has "been a scramble" to "get money behind" the Marlins bid. The Tagg Romney-Tom Glavine group is "still alive as long as this process continues." There have "been reports that Jeter and Bush have until June, and others that have the process coming to a head this week." A source said that the Romney-Glavine group "appeared to have all of its investors in place with its bid" of $1.1B (BOSTON GLOBE, 4/30).
