People & Personalities: Bob Uecker Happy Remaining Brewers' Radio Announcer

In Milwaukee, Tom Haudricourt noted Brewers announcer Bob Uecker is "pretty sure he doesn’t want a farewell tour if and when he decides it's time to walk away." Uecker: "The presents would probably be pretty crummy anyway." Uecker is "entering his 47th season in the booth and just might go for 50." He said, "Who knows? It could be next year or the year after that (when he retires). I really don’t know.” Uecker: "I’ve never had a contract. Never. ... I don’t need a contract. If you don’t want me back, tell me. If I don’t want to come back, I’ll tell you" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 3/26).

HITS CLOSE TO HOME: MMAJUNKIE.com noted UFC host and reporter Megan Olivi is "occasionally put in the rather peculiar position of having to interview her own husband, UFC flyweight Joseph Benavidez, after he fights." While Olivi is "used to this part of the job, she admits there is one particular situation she’d rather avoid." Olivi: "I’ve worked almost every single one of his fights, wins and losses. ... The only thing I don’t like is people watching me watch him. ... So we just kind of keep it hidden." While it has "never been an impediment to her job, Olivi says that she, understandably, gets emotional watching her husband compete" (MMAJUNKIE.com, 3/27).

THREE AMIGOS: NBC Sports California yesterday announced former A's Jose Canseco, Dave Stewart and Dallas Braden have joined the net as studio analysts. They will provide analysis and commentary on "A's Pregame Live" and "A's Postgame Live." The three join former MLBers Bip Roberts and Shooty Babitt as analysts at the net. Both the pre- and postgame shows are anchored by Brodie Brazil (NBC Sports California). Braden said that due to his wife having a baby, he is "committed to only 15 telecasts initially, but that’s flexible." In S.F., Susan Slusser notes A's color announcer Mark Mulder’s role will "expand from 20 games last year to 30." Regular color man Ray Fosse will "work on the radio broadcasts when Mulder is on the TV side" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 3/28).

BOOTH TALK
: FS South and Southeast yesterday announced the broadcast team for Atlanta United's inaugural season: play-by-play announcers Alan Green and Kevin Egan, color analyst Dan Gargan and studio host/sideline reporter Brittany Arnold (FS South).
