Ravens Consider Expanding Investment, Audience Into E-Sports Within A Year

Ravens Senior VP/Corporate Sales & Business Development Kevin Rochlitz said that within the next year he "expects the team to invest" in e-sports and host large-scale events in Baltimore, according to Jonathan Munshaw of the BALTIMORE BUSINESS JOURNAL. Rochlitz said that Ravens leadership "sees e-sports as an area for growth." Rochlitz added that the team is "heavily considering hosting events at M&T Bank Stadium, where people could come and pay to watch a competitive video game tournament or match." Rochlitz: "It's amazing to see how many people want to come and watch an event like that." Munshaw noted Monumental Sports & Entertainment has "invested in a company" called aXiomatic, which owns e-sports franchise Team Liquid. Monumental Chief Commercial Officer & President of Business Operations Jim Van Stone said that he "expects to see 'massive' growth out of the e-sports industry over the next 10 years." Van Stone: "My guess before too long the NHL, NFL and MLB will get behind similar programs" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 3/27).
