NFL's Decision To Relocate Rams To L.A. Delivers In The Form Of Ticketing Revenue

The NFL’s decision to relocate the Rams to L.A. is "already a big winner" as the team in '16 was the "top contributor to the shared pool of ticket revenue among the 32 clubs," according to Daniel Kaplan of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. A source said that the team contributed $27M to the pool. Teams "contribute one-third of their ticket revenue to the shared pool, which would put the Rams’ ticket revenue" in the neighborhood of $80M. The shared revenue is "evenly divided among the league’s 32 teams." Ticket revenue figures for the Rams’ final season in St. Louis "were unavailable." The source said that the No. 2 team "contributing to the ticket pool" was the Broncos, followed by the Patriots, Panthers and Saints. All of those teams "sell out their games and have relatively large stadiums." The source added that the "last two teams on the list" are the Raiders, which contributed $9.1M, and the Jaguars, at $8.8M (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 3/27 issue).
