No Olympic Meetings Reportedly On The Docket For NHL As Games Near

There "aren't any Olympic meetings currently on the docket" for the NHL as the "waiting game continues" on a decision for next year's PyeongChang Games, according to a source cited by Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com. Bruins D Zdeno Chara, who has played at past Olympics for Slovakia, said, "We are at a point where people need to really sit down behind one table and find a solution, instead of always kind of being defensive I would say, or finding ways not to find solutions. ... Things will find a way and fall into place for the Olympics." Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock said, "It's important to showcase your game every year (and) not just pick and choose when it's your turn or when you'd like to go. But, I don't own any teams." Sabres coach Dan Bylsma said, "I have mixed feelings about what it does to the NHL season. ... I just like the aspect of the best players in the world playing on the biggest stage" (ESPN.com, 3/20). Bruins LW Brad Marchand said, "For athletes to get themselves to that level where they can have the opportunity to play in the Olympics, and then for someone to take it away from them, I don't think it's really fair, but that is a long ways away" (TORONTO SUN, 3/21).
