San Diego County Credit Union Signs On To Become Holiday Bowl Title Sponsor

San Diego County Credit Union has "agreed to become the Holiday Bowl's new title sponsor," according to Kirk Kenney of the SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE. SDCCU had been the title sponsor the past 12 years for the Poinsettia Bowl, which was discontinued in January. San Diego Bowl Game Association Exec Dir Mark Neville said, "This puts us on strong footing for our future. It's going to help us immensely." Kenney notes San Diego-based National Funding "stepped in at the 11th hour" in '15 and '16 when the bowl was "unable to get a long-term sponsor." Financial terms and length of the deal with SDCCU were not disclosed. The date for this year's Holiday Bowl, which matches teams from the Big Ten and Pac-12 each year, has not been announced, although the game is "typically played the final week in December." SDCCU "already had a Holiday Bowl presence in previous years" as the sponsor for the annual Port of San Diego Holiday Bowl Parade (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 3/10).
