ELeague Turning To "Street Fighter V" For Upcoming Tournament This Spring

The ELeague is diversifying its game portfolio, making Capcom’s "Street Fighter V” the focus of its next tournament. The WME-IMG/Turner Sports venture will launch the Street Fighter V Invitational on March 27 with 32 of the world’s top players. Twenty-four of the 32 will advance beyond the preliminary rounds into league play, which starts April 7, with the playoffs and championship set for May 26. All told, the Street Fighter plan includes eight linear broadcasts on TBS. In the preliminaries, live coverage will be limited to streaming on Twitch with a one-hour recap show airing March 31 on TBS. The regular season’s live competitions will air on TBS and Twitch on four Friday nights in April and May. The playoffs will stream entirely on Twitch with the championship match on TBS. TBS is also planning two additional non-competition feature TV broadcasts. This is the third game for ELeague, joining "Counter-strike: Global Offensive" and "Overwatch." The tournament carries a $250,000 prize purse.
