The Buccaneers "reached a settlement" with former K LAWRENCE TYNES, who sued the team in '15 seeking $20M and "claiming that their negligence regarding a MRSA infection ended his NFL career" in '13. Tynes and the team "signed off Feb. 10 on paperwork to 'jointly stipulate and agree to dismissal' of his lawsuit, which had progressed in the courts for two years and was scheduled for pre-trial conference in August." There were "no financial details of the settlement" (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 2/22). 

HEADING TO COURT: Former Southern Miss and Univ. of Tennessee men's basketball coach DONNIE TYNDALL said that he "plans to file a federal lawsuit against the NCAA." Tyndall last year "received one of the harshest penalties in NCAA history" with a 10-year show-cause penalty for multiple infractions. Tyndall said of the lawsuit, "Slander and defamation will be part of it" (Knoxville NEWS SENTINEL, 2/22)....Former NHLer MIKE PELUSO's workers’ compensation trial will "proceed sometime this fall -- possibly with testimony from" Maple Leafs GM LOU LAMORIELLO, Hockey HOFer JACQUES LEMAIRE and NHL Commissioner GARY BETTMAN. Peluso claims NHL teams "didn’t safeguard his health during his playing career" (TSN.ca, 2/21). 

RIVALRY NIGHT: The Cubs-Cardinals rivalry will be the "subject of an exhibit" at the Springfield, Ill., Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum starting next month. "Cubs Vs. Cardinals: The Rivaly," was "developed with the help of both teams" and the Baseball HOF and opens March 24. It will "feature rare artifacts and photographs and span players from MORDECAI BROWN and ROGERS HORNSBY to recent stars like JAKE ARRIETA and YADIER MOLINA" (AP, 2/21).

NAMES: WNBA Washington Mystics F ELENA DELLE DONNE and AMANDA CLIFTON "will be married in June" and they have been "selected as The Knot's 2017 Dream Wedding Couple." The Knot, which "covers all expenses as part of the promotion, has named a Dream Wedding couple for the past five years" but this is the "first same-sex Dream Wedding couple" (WASHINGTON POST, 2/22)....The Baseball HOF will induct HOMER SIMPSON in recognition of the 25th anniversary of the “Homer At The Bat” episode (NATIONALPOST.com, 2/21)....RONDA ROUSEY has “landed a guest starring role on the NBC crime-drama series ‘BLINDSPOT.’” Her appearance is scheduled for early May (MMAJUNKIE.com, 2/21)....The Univ. of Michigan’s athletic department yesterday held its Mock Rock Talent show focused on mental illness awareness (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 2/22)....Facebook Founder & CEO MARK ZUCKERBERG visited the Univ. of Alabama yesterday and “spent time with the football team and coach NICK SABAN.” Saban referred to Zuckerberg as “the Facebook guy” (ESPN.com, 2/21)....TOM BRADY and his wife, GISELE BUNDCHEN, have been named co-Chairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Met Gala (BOSTON GLOBE, 2/22).

IN MEMORY: Clemson Associate AD/Planned Giving BERT HENDERSON yesterday was “found dead near his home” in South Carolina. The 60-year-old on Monday was “reported missing by his family.” Contact had last been made with him “via email Sunday night” (CBSSPORTS.com, 2/21).
