NO HARM, NO FOUL: Golf HOFer BERNHARD LANGER said that PRESIDENT TRUMP "apologized to him about involving him in a story about alleged voter fraud." Langer: “We talked on the phone, and he was very clear ... if there was anything that hurt me, he apologized. And I apologized, too, for some of the quotes that were incorrect and we're on good terms" (TCPALM.com, 2/9).

BAD LOOK: Former San Diego State women's basketball coach BETH BURNS last year was awarded $3.35M by a court, and if the California State Univ. system loses an appeal to overturn that and is "required to pay attorneys’ fees" for Burns, the total cost could soar north of $11M. Had SDSU just fired Burns in '13 "without cause and simply paid her the final four years of her contract, it would have cost the university $880,000." But instead SDSU "fired her with cause and embarked on a three-year legal odyssey" that already has cost school system "more than that in legal fees alone." Burns sued in San Diego Superior Court after her firing, "claiming whistleblower retaliation for complaining about potential Title IX violations" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 2/10).

TAKING THE PLUNGE: Vikings GM RICK SPIELMAN on Thursday “participated in the Polar Plunge benefiting Special Olympics Minnesota.” Spielman was joined by several other Minnesota sports execs, including Twins President DAVE ST. Athletes on the list include JESSE OWENS, MUHAMMAD ALI, MICHAEL JORDAN, JACKIE ROBINSON and SERENA WILLIAMS (ESPN)....Former LSU RB LEONARD FOURNETTE “donated a truckload” of bottled Life10 Electrolyte Water “to tornado victims on Wednesday” (NOLA.com, 2/9)....Former MLBer WALLY JOYNER has joined Onset Financial as a VP/Strategic Development (Onset).
