In Boston, Allen & Dungca in a front-page piece report TD Garden has "cut ties" with the Allied Universal security company after reports claiming "abuse of the homeless inside North Station." A former Allied employee said that guards "routinely shoved, kicked, and dragged the people who took shelter there, following supervisors’ directive to remove them from the building." TD Garden President Amy Latimer: "It’s absolutely unacceptable to us. We're committed to equal treatment and respect of all patrons. It is just not the way we operate” (BOSTON GLOBE, 1/26).

GOING OVER THE TOP ROPE: In Philadelphia, Vaughn Johnson reports the city will host the '18 WWE Royal Rumble at Wells Fargo Center on Jan. 28. Philadelphia hosted Royal Rumble in '15, but that was "before the WWE changed its strategy." WWE now "presents multiple events surrounding its 'big four' extravaganzas, all at the same venue." WWE auxiliary events Raw, Smackdown Live and NXT will also "take place at the Wells Fargo Center Jan. 27-30 next year" (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 1/26).

BETTER CONNECTION: The Sharks and Cisco have partnered to develop Cisco Connected Stadium WiFi at SAP Center, which has now more than doubled the total number of access points throughout the venue. WiFi at the arena is now located closer to fans sitting in SAP Center's bowl as 47 handrail enclosures have been installed, each with two access points. SAP Center will also now provide WiFi coverage outside of the venue (Sharks).

CHARM VENUE: Event management company SMG is "interested in working" with the City of Aberdeen to run Ripken Stadium. Royal Farms Arena GM Frank Remesch, whose facility is owned by SMG, on Monday told the Aberdeen City Council SMG would "like to bring in two to three concerts a year inside the stadium and other events outside." Remesch said that Aberdeen has a "'charming gem' in Ripken Stadium," adding that it is "underused" (BALTIMORESUN.com, 1/24).
