Univ. Of Georgia Agrees To Multimedia Deal With IMG, JMI Worth $152.5M Over 10 Years

The Univ. of Georgia has entered into a 10-year, $152.5M athletic multimedia and marketing rights deal with IMG College and JMI Sports, according to Marc Weiszer of the ATHENS BANNER-HERALD. The deal, agreed to last month, goes through '27 and will replace the previous deal with IMG that was "set to expire on June 30." A memorandum of understanding was "first agreed to last May." The deal pays UGA at least $12.8M for '17-18 with increases each year through '26-27, when the school is to make at least $15.7M. The annual royalty for '17-18 includes $11M for multimedia rights, $1.4M for new media and $400,000 for seatback rights. UGA’s previous multimedia rights deal with IMG was worth $92.8M over eight years. The new contract includes media rights, sponsorship rights, trademarks and service marks, which "includes radio broadcasts for football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and a weekly radio coaches’ show, football and men’s basketball coach’s TV show and UGA athletics TV show." It also "grants some digital rights and some web site rights." Weiszer noted there are "'pouring rights and beverage sponsorships' in the deal, but those are non-alcoholic" (ATHENS BANNER-HERALD, 1/24).
